Ariana Grande is calling out Grammys Ken Ehrlich after he told the Associated Press that Grande was not performing or attending the Grammys because she “felt it was too late for her to pull something together.” On her Twitter, Grande shared a screenshot of the AP piece and explained that wasn’t the case at all; they would not let her have the creative freedom she wanted to choose what she’d perform.

“I’ve kept my mouth shut but now you’re lying about me,” she started. “I can pull together a performance over night and you know that, Ken. It was when my creativity & self expression was stifled by you, that I decided not to attend. I hope the show is exactly what you want it to be and more,” she said, adding a heart emoji at the end.

“I offered 3 different songs,” she continued. “It’s about collaboration. It’s about feeling supported. It’s about art and honesty. Not politics. Not doing favors or playing games. It’s just a game y’all.. and I’m sorry but that’s not what music is to me.”

Grande’s public tweets come after it was widely reported yesterday that Grande would not attend the Sunday award show, despite being nominated for two Grammys. Sources close to the situation told Variety that Grande and the producers had a disagreement with them over which song she would sing.

One source said that Grande felt “insulted” after producers initially refused to let her perform “7 Rings,” her newest single from Thank U, Next. They compromised and said “7 Rings” could be part of a medley but insisted that they pick the second song. That offer didn’t work for Grande, who pulled out of performing and being at the Grammys period in part because other artists were not given that same stipulation. Grande’s tweets seemingly confirm that original report.
